Media Platforms Design TeamIf you’ve ever wondered what the most exclusive coupe in the world is, wonder no more. In early 2008, Bentley will launch the Brooklands for a mere 550 lucky (and very wealthy) Bentley enthusiasts to enjoy. And we’ll get to see it in the metal next week at the New York auto show. The cost? Figure around $350,000. Yes, that’s nauseatingly expensive. But that condo-crushing price tag buys much more than Bentley’s legendary hand craftsmanship: It buys torque—774 lb.-ft. of it, to be exact. That’s more than a Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Duramax Diesel. Awesome.Oh yeah, there’s 530 hp too. Bentley gets all that grunt by turning up the wick on the twin-turbo, 6.75-liter V8 to allow for more boost. That cam-in-block Crewe-built engine, which dates back to the 1950s, has had a thorough revamp this year in the Arnage line with a re-profiled camshaft and new turbos. The Brooklands is sure to make the most of those changes. It’s big, powerful and elegant. We dig it. —Ben Stewart
