M POWER FOR Z4–FINALLY The roadster market is like the modeling world. Only the youngest and hottest bodies get the money. BMW’s Z4 Roadster is a little like Christie Brinkley. She’s still hot but, well, she’s not quite what she used to be. Well, BMW has decided to give the Z4 the automotive equivalent of Botox. Which, just for the record, is much better than doing fitness equipment infomercials with Chuck Norris like our pal Christie. Underneath that long Z4 hood BMW shoehorned in the M3’s fantastic 3.2-liter straight Six to create the new M Roadster and help it compete with Porsche’s new Boxster. In this configuration, that engine makes 320 hp and comes with a six-speed manual (our choice) or a six-speed automatic. Expect to pay around $52,000 when the new M Roadster hits stores this summer.–Ben StewartDetroit 1: Dodge Challenger ConceptDetroit 2: Ford Edge, Shelby GT500, Sport Trac and Reflex ConceptDetroit 3: Infiniti Coupe ConceptDetroit Live 4: Car and Truck Of The YearDetroit Live 5: Hyundai Santa Fe and Talus ConceptDetroit Live 6: Dodge Challenger and Chrysler Imperial Concepts Revealed, Plus Mercedes’ GLDetroit 7: Ford Super Chief and Lincoln MKS Concepts, Plus Lincoln MKXDetroit 8: Chevy Camaro ConceptDetroit Live 9: Mazda Kabura and Toyota F3R ConceptsDetroit Live 10: Honda Fit and GM’s ‘Staff Meeting’ Press ConferenceDetroit Live 11: Buick Enclave ConceptDetroit 12: Jeep Wrangler and CompassDetroit 13: Nissan Sentra and Urge ConceptDetroit Live 14: Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and Concept-CTDetroit Live 15: Lexus LS 460/460LDetroit 16: Chrysler Aspen and Dodge CaliberDetroit Live 17: Acura RDXDetroit Live 18: Aston Martin Rapide Concept, Kia Optima and Soul ConceptDetroit Live 19: Audi Roadjet Concept, S6 and S8M ROADSTER Photo by Ben Stewart
