Detroit Auto Show 1: Dodge Challenger Concept12:01 am, Jan. 8–Not just a two-door version of the Dodge Charger, this Challenger concept car makes no excuses for looking like something out of Dodge’s ponycar catalog from the 1970s. Design cues include “pure, minimal signature lines, an air-grabbing grille and bold colors.” Mechanicals are just as retro for the Dodge line: “mega horsepower” and rear-wheel drive. Physical differences of the new Challenger versus the original include a 6-in. stretch in wheelbase and a 2-in. wider body overall. And if the number of comments we’ve received from Mopar nuts here at PM.com over the past six months is any indication, DaimlerChrysler management better not screw up the production version of this car or there’s gonna to be hell to pay.–Jim Dunne Detroit 2: Ford Edge, Shelby GT500, Sport Trac and Reflex ConceptDetroit 3: Infiniti Coupe ConceptDetroit Live 4: Car and Truck Of The YearDetroit Live 5: Hyundai Santa Fe and Talus ConceptDetroit Live 6: Dodge Challenger and Chrysler Imperial Concepts Revealed, Plus Mercedes’ GLDetroit 7: Ford Super Chief and Lincoln MKS Concepts, Plus Lincoln MKXDetroit 8: Chevy Camaro ConceptDetroit Live 9: Mazda Kabura and Toyota F3R ConceptsDetroit Live 10: Honda Fit and GM’s ‘Staff Meeting’ Press ConferenceDetroit Live 11: Buick Enclave ConceptDetroit 12: Jeep Wrangler and CompassDetroit 13: Nissan Sentra and Urge ConceptDetroit Live 14: Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and Concept-CTDetroit Live 15: Lexus LS 460/460LDetroit 16: Chrysler Aspen and Dodge CaliberDetroit Live 17: Acura RDXDetroit Live 18: Aston Martin Rapide Concept, Kia Optima and Soul ConceptDetroit Live 19: Audi Roadjet Concept, S6 and S8Detroit Live 20: BMW M RoadsterDetroit Live 21: Geely ArrivesDetroit Live 22: Volvo C30 ConceptDetroit 23: GM Hybrid SUVs, New Escalades and 3 Hummer UpgradesDetroit 24: Mini Traveller ConceptDetroit 25: Wrapping UpL.A. Auto Show Report 1Every year this time of year, we’re all over the country attending shows. Here’s the most significant news from the left coast. Los Angeles seemed a fitting venue to show the new Pontiac Solstice GXP. The high-performance version packs a 260-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec four-cylinder. That’s almost 100 more ponies than the regular Solstice. And that should help the roadster get into the 5-sec. 0 to 60 bracket. We can’t wait to drive it. Look for more LA stuff tomorrow, then Detroit Sunday through Tuesday.–Ben StewartL.A. Auto Show Report 2L.A. Auto Show Report 3L.A. Auto Show Report 4L.A. Auto Show Report 5Chicago Auto Show 1: Lincoln MKZLincoln’s Alphabet The paint is hardly dry on the Lincoln Zephyr and the car already has a name change. For the 2007 model year, call it Lincoln MKZ. The change is in line with Lincoln’s policy to give its models letter names. Think MKX, its new crossover model. That car was known as the Aviator right up until just before it was unveiled at the Detroit show last month. The MKZ will have a number of new features to go along with its new designation, including a 250-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine, all-wheel drive and 17-in. wheels. Styling changes include a new grille, bright trim and rear bumper.–Jim DunneChicago Auto Show 8: Toyota Tundra, Honda Civic Si Sedan ConceptChicago Auto Show 7: Nissan Quest, Hyundai EntourageChicago Auto Show 6: Dodge Rampage ConceptChicago Auto Show 5: Lexus ES 350Chicago Auto Show 4: Dodge Caliber SRT4, Lincoln NavigatorChicago Auto Show 3: M-B AMG Musclecars, GM OnStar UpgradeChicago Auto Show 2: Chevy AvalancheChicago Auto Show 1: Lincoln MKZ, Dodge Nitro
