Browse expert reviews and compare info on the Fit Sport in ourMedia Platforms Design TeamOne full year with our frisky little Fit isn’t quite enough time. You see, we’ve logged nearly 15,000 miles without a single mechanical malfunction. How long could the Fit keep its unblemished record? True, we did warp the front brake rotors early on during an afternoon of canyon carving–our fault, not the Honda’s. So we made exactly one trip to the dealership for those brakes, an oil change and an airbag adjustment. The Fit was our West Coast workhorse, too. It’s gone on quite a few road trips–the longest from L.A. to Oregon on the Coast Highway loaded with three friends and an Australian shepherd named Gus. The majority of our miles were logged in L.A.’s urban sprawl, without our pal Gus, where we routinely got 30 to 35 mpg. We’ve gushed about this car’s handling before, though at times we would have happily traded it for a softer freeway ride. Yet everyone appreciated the small-on-the-outside, large-on-the-inside proportions. The first time we tested a Fit, we declared it an amazing bargain. After a year of trouble-free miles, that opinion has only grown stronger.> style=“background-color:#000000; color:#ffffff; padding:2px; padding-right:5px;">Drivers NotebookData So Far valign=“top” style=“padding:2px; padding-right:5px; font-size:10pt;">

  • The 1.5-liter Four could use a bump in low-end torque and an extra gear in the transmission. * The Fit can haul much more than you think you have room for. * Quick steering is great fun around town, but a little darty at 70-plus mph on the freeway. As tested: $15,765Previous reports: See 09/07, 06/07, 02/07Miles driven: 14,849Miles since last report: 1953Fuel economy: Average–32.9 mpg Worst–30.1 mpg Best–36.9 mpgMaintenance/repair costs: $0Ben StewartBen is a lifelong enthusiast of anything with wheels.
